Horrible and cruel treatment for mental health emergency

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Sent for evaluation of mental health at Emergency Department. Was put in johnny, took all my personal property and locked it up.

Was put in a freezing and unheated small dark waiting room with guards.

Denied prescription medication for chronic health issues including heart disease. Rude and uncaring staff. Ignored, made fun of and concerns dismissed.

Waited 12 hours in this nightmare room with other patients before being taken to ER hallway to be evaluated.

While waiting in this nightmare waiting room, an extremely violent person was put in the room without restraints and threatened all patients in the room. About 8 police officers responded with tasers drawn in this small room.

Thought I was going to get tased due to proximity to violent person. Terrifying! Law and order SVU played all night on the tv.

Traumatized and felt like a prisoner when I came seeking help. Still traumatized, having flashbacks and trouble sleeping

I came to ER

Rude staff working here , nasty attitude toward patients. I came first time in July with pneumonia and I waited 16 hours to be called to a room. Today I had to come again on November 21And Im still waiting I went to ask and the information person was sarcastic about me being here for 5 and 1/2 hour saying its been only 5 1/2 hour. They don't have any respect toward patient People like this should not be working in the medical field The woman that is by information reception area on November 21 at 7:50 Pm Rude person!!!

ER over 20 hours to see doctor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Went in due to shortness of breath. I was down in area visiting and had called my GP and she said to go to ER

Had EGK and blood work waited over 20 hours to see doctor.

Then put on gurney in hallway to have echocardiogram the next morning. I got an email from hospital thru their portal saying it was scheduled for 12:30. I told the nurse. And reminded her at 11:45 that I needed to be transported.

At that point she said even though I had message it was scheduled it really wasnt. It is a glitch in their system. I then asked when would I see doctor. Doctor finally arrived same explanation about echo really not scheduled.

They could move me to an observation area and hopefully could get test done in 48 hours. He said I could be discharged and see my doctor at home

I wonder what if I had walked myself to area for echo and shown them my appointment what would have happened

DISGUSTING "TREATMENT"

Updated by user Oct 12, 2022

I may have actual cysts and issues with my uterus. but he wouldn't know that because they didn't even look at my results, I had to bring things up on my chart.

Original review Oct 12, 2022
No one had an idea of what should have been done. First was the EMS ride which was a whole problem in itself, the EMS administered meds without my consent and also did not bother to ask if I had any allergies.

Which I do. The ER left me in a back hallway for an hour till one of the lovely cleaning ladies asked them about me. I was not taken seriously, as a matter of fact I was laughed at. They had me waiting for 6 hours to be seen, and when I was seen I was told by the doctor that he would "come back when he feels it's needed".

Two nurses laughed at me for not being able to stand up because of the amount of pain I was in and the excessive bleeding that I had. So, a lovely nurse took over and basically, she took the reins and ordered an ultrasound for me.

She actually knew what she was doing and assisted me. At the end of everything, after the doctor decided to finally examine me (After 10 hours of being ignored) he couldn't tell me what was wrong with me and told me to call my doctor to get my situation fixed and then walked away.

I went to the Er in severe pain. They did an ultrasound and the ultrasound wasn’t even read by a radiologist or a gynecologist!!! They were read by my ER doctor and a Resident! They said there was a cyst on my left side but that’s it. I must say my ER doctor and the nurses were very nice at least. When I looked at my ultrasound results in my chart online the measurements of my right ovary were measuring almost the same size as my uterus! So I thought that was closer to an explanation of my severe pain, and pressure. Followed up with my primary ,the next day with issue still not resolved but managed with pain meds and she said it seemed the measurement was a mistake. Ended up up all night and crying called my gyno out in Boston and they said to go to the ER out there. Went out there, was admitted, rescanned and this time read by a radiologist and gynecologist and found my uterine lining has protruded through my uterus! BINGO! scheduling my hysterectomy tomorrow. Idiots.

NOT RESOLVED AND NOW IM GOING TO SUE.

leah belazarian and riley mclean 2 physicians at umass memorial were asked to cover the mistake in pathology for fellow umass medical school associate professor charles abbott- i drove 2 hours each way to each of 2 appts (so did my husband-we both took 2 days off work) they not only covered for him, they didn't treat me appropriately, caused a ton of confusion in my subsequent care, and charged me $675. when it was proven by dna analysis that the specimen was a fake- and the coverup was exposed- charles abbott "retired from practice" and doesn't have ties to umass anymore, BUT belazarian and mclean still treat patients as if they were still HONEST physicians- when i complained to umass- i was not only STONEWALLED but remain un-reimbursed for the $675 out of pocket even though the BORIM found merit to my complaints and the clinical assessments were removed from my medical records- insurance fraud as well?

Simple foot Xray and earache $$ 631.00 Xray which included facility cost $$ 45.00 Xray charge from some Xray company $$ 360.00 for less than 5 minutes with PCP to look in ear ================ A thousand dollars my cost. My high deductible insurance covered about 7%. I know, get a better insurance plan and pay more. Even still, 1000.00 for that service ? Highway robbery... I'm all done with Umass. They aren't even that competent. From now on, I will take my heathcare needs elsewhere. Don't partronize any of they;re locations... There are plenty of better places and options than Umass Memorial. Thrown out of my 6 month checkup with my transplant dr

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I started seeing Umass memorial transplant services back in 2010 when my kidneys failed due to 20 years of brittle type 1 diabetes and got my life saving kidney transplant in 2011 for which I’m forever grateful. Then my dr talked me into a pancreas transplant, which I had in 2012 because IF it worked, it would cure me of my disease that’s trying very hard, and has nearly succeeded on many occasions to kill me.

(I have severe hypoglycemia because of my diabetes). Unfortunately six months after receiving the pancreas the diabetes starting coming back and soon thereafter the new pancreas all together failed and my diabetes came back with a vengeance and since then it’s been worse than ever. Anyways I had let my dr talk me into giving it another shot recently and went back on the waiting list for another shot at a pancreas transplant even though it’s a major surgery and literally took me nearly a entire year to fully recover from. Needless to say I’m on disability because of my health problems and for some unknown reason my Medicare and masshealth kept getting terminated and reinstated last couple years and I recently decided that I no longer want to wait for nor go through such a major surgery not knowing if it will work or just fail again so I removed myself from the UNOS waiting list and since then Umass has lost all decency and humanity.

In fact I recently went to 6 month checkup and was told I’d have to leave because my secondary insurance (covers copay) wasn’t active.

That’s right folks, the people that have surely made at least 2 million off my two organ transplants threw me away over a copay! If you want compassion and humanity I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND YOU DO NOT GO TO UMASS FOR YOUR HEALTHCARE!

They shouldn't even be allowed to do transplants of any kind here until they fix the incompetence and lack of compassion and decency in their doctors, nurses, and medical staff. Nothing worse than having a transplant at a hospital and having issues that bring you in for treatment, especially in the emergency department, and being treated like you are at an intake center for the county jail.

Most, not all, of the nurses in the ED treat the most vulnerable patients so poorly. It used to be that the vulnerable being mistreated were folks with alcohol and drug issues or mental health issues but it has now expanded to the elderly. They know it. You know it.

I know it. But nobody will do anything to get rid of these deplorable health care workers. If you speak up in defense of yourself or anyone else, they will just call their "police" to bounce you out.

And they're a whole separate complaint in themselves. How embarrassing.

What a bunch of worthless uncaring people. I can list you tons and tons of my issues alone, and the latest is no one will call you for medical records...and you can't even get the "boss" Susan Begley to gt back to you and I even had my specialist call themselves to reach her and medical records....just a voice mail.

Just terrible way to treat patients.

Almost killed me when I had pneuemonia, had me walking on a broken hip for 3 years until I took matters in my own hands, and the same is current. Years of my spine pain and I can't even get my records to get to my appointment.

Who do you need to call to get results here??????????????

ER can’t handle their patient load

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Was sent here by my urgent care center due to chest pains. (Urgent care didn’t have the lab capabilities to test for everything.) After an EKG, had to wait over 5hrs to be called in. After 3.5 hours, I tried to ask the front desk if I had missed my name being called, but security guards would not allow me to enter. (Yes, you have to get through security in order to check in. Feels about as compassionate as an airport) So, security told me that I must not be considered a priority, and that normal wait time was 4.5 hours. After 5 hours I was brought into an ER overflowing with patients. Full rooms. People on gurneys in the hallway everywhere. I was put on a gurney in the hall next to an angry psych patient that required a security detail. Spoke to a doc for like 3 mins. They took a chest X-ray and some blood work for labs. Had to wait 6 more hours for the labs and X-rays to come back. When they did, doc never even came to talk. Nurse just said, “your labs are clear, must be stress or depression/anxiety. After which I started crying because I was still having the same pains & didn’t understand. She said she was sorry I was having a rough day and said she hoped I got home safe. It was after 1am and I had been there for almost 13 hours. I understand that you’re busy. But get a flipping system so that patients can check wait times. Or at least know where approx they are in ”line”. The DMV is more advanced than this ER waiting room. If I had known it was going to be this bad, I’d have have driven an hour to Boston.
